As CEO, Dr. Horstmyer is responsible for leading the organization in meeting its strategic goals. Dr. Horstmyer’s background includes serving as founding chairman of the Department of Neurology at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (2007-2014). Dr. Horstmyer completed his neurology residency training at Jackson Memorial Hospital/UM, where he was appointed as the first administrative chief resident of neurology and was a fellow in neuromuscular neurology and electro-neurophysiology. He is committed to the advancement of medical education and serves as a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and New York Academy of Science, and a member of the advisory board of Biomedical Engineering at FIU. Dr. Horstmyer is also the founder of the MS Center of Miami and the Miami-Dade Stroke Consortium — non-profit organizations for the improvement of neurological care in multiple sclerosis and stroke.
